Shoulder pain is defined as pain caused by injury or disease. The design of the shoulder joint is such that it sacrifices stability for mobility.  For this reason, the shoulder is at high risk for injury. Injuries to the shoulder can involve ligaments, bursae, or tendons surrounding the shoulder joint, cartilage, menisci, or bones.
