What is a stroke?
A stroke occurs when a blood vessel in the brain is blocked or ruptures, depriving brain cells of oxygen. It is a leading cause of long-term disability and can result in serious issues like paralysis, speech problems, and cognitive difficulties. There are two main types of strokes: ischemic (caused by blockages) and hemorrhagic (caused by ruptures).
How is a stroke diagnosed?
Stroke diagnosis is based on the observation of symptoms such as sudden numbness, confusion, or loss of coordination, followed by brain imaging like CT scans or MRIs. Emergency medical professionals aim to provide quick treatment, often using classification systems like TOAST, which helps determine the stroke type to administer appropriate care.

Rehab Associates offers personalized rehabilitation to help you regain mobility, strength, and independence after a stroke. Through exercises, balance training, and specialized therapies such as constraint-induced movement therapy, we work to restore function, improve quality of life, and support long-term recovery.
